Fillies & Mares only at the Ballarat Turf Club today

Racing News

sportsbet-ballaratEquine fillies & mares will be out in force today at Ballarat racecourse when the Ballarat Turf Club hosts their second race meeting on its newly renovated track.

The club is conducting an eight-event card where all races are restricted to fillies & mares only, with the first race scheduled for 1.20pm in the afternoon.

With the upcoming Ballarat Cup less then one month away, the meeting will be held on the outer track, rather than the inner one, and the rail will be out seven metres.

Ballarat trainer Darren Weir has a busy few days day ahead with 11 runners set to go around on his home track today and star gallopers Platelet & Trust In A Gust engaged at Moonee Valley on the weekend.

The state’s leading trainer has runners in every race at Sportsbet-Ballarat today and will saddle up Platelet in the Group 1 Manikato Stakes on Friday night and Trust In A Gust in the Group 2 Crystal Mile on Saturday.

Off the track, the ladies day lunch has attracted more than 200 people with former WIN TV weather girl Jane Bunn the guest speake for the occasion.

In great news for the Ballarat Turf Club the 2014 Sportsbet-Ballarat Cup meeting on November 22nd is shaping up to be a massive one for the club with 2500 dining packages already sold.

The standalone Saturday meeting is a boon for the BTC and dining options are still available in the grandstand dining room and BTC marquee, along with mini-marquee and umbrella sites.
