Countdown is on to the 125th Burrumbeet Cup on New Year’s Day

2015-burrumbeet-cupIt’s less than three weeks until the 125th running of the Burrumbeet Cup, one of country racing’s most iconic races.

The extremely popular $15,000 Petrogas Regional Burrumbeet Cup will light up the picturesque Burrumbeet racecourse on New Years Day, and a huge crowd is expected to turn out in celebration.

The Burrumbeet Park & Windermere Racing Club committee has been hard at work over the past couple of months getting the track and course ready for all the exciting cup day racing action and the numerous free kids activities taking place on the day.

Committee member Brian Johnson said the club was on track for its best cup meeting yet.

“The club is celebrating the running of our 125th Burrumbeet Cup on New Year’s Day and we have a new cup sponsor in Petrogas Regional,” Brian said.

“We are delighted to have Petrogas Regional on board and look forward to a long and fruitful partnership.”

“Our outgoing cup sponsor Scott Petroleum has been a fantastic supporter of the club over the years and we thank them for all their support.”

The club’s decision to make it a fun, filled day to celebrate with the family has been a positive move.

“The club’s emphasis on family entertainment in a relaxed racing atmosphere makes for a great day out for the whole family.”

“We’ve gone down a family day out road and it has been great for the club, especially when you see so many Mums, Dads and kids getting around the course on cup day.”

“We had an incident free meeting last year and despite the heavens opening up half way through the meeting, it was still a fantastic day.”

“We are expecting around 5,000 people to attend our cup meeting on New Year’s Day to witness the 125th Burrumbeet Cup, and hopefully in ideal weather conditions.”

The club has an exciting array of free activities planed for Burrumbeet Cup Day to keep the family entertained, including a ‘Kids Zone’, where the little ones can spend the day enjoying themselves while Mum & Dad kick back and relax.

There’s also the Hannaford Seedmaster Services ‘Dash For Cash’ for kids under 12, face painting, jumping castle, pony rides, animal nursery, merry-go-rounds, segway rides, Camp Australia activities & more.

The Horse Racing Shares.com.au Community Bowl is going to be an exicting event for local community clubs, while the Fashions on the Field is always a hotly contested affair for the ladies.

The first of 7 races will commence at approximately 1.10pm, highlighted by the the $15,000 Petrogas Regional Burrumbeet Cup (1800m), which is the last race on the program.
