Tim O’Connor ‘Taking a Punt’ for Charity again in RDAChallenge

Racing News

rddaAfter taking a punt on Burrumbeet Cup day to raise $850 for the National Jockeys Trust, we thought it was time to challenge Ballarat Courier sport’s journalist Tim O’Connor once more in an attempt to raise money for another very worthy cause, Riding for the Disabled Association of Victoria (RDAV).

Tim was quick to accept the challenge and was excited to jump on board to put his tipping skills to the test once again for a great cause.

For those who don’t know, Tim writes a popular racing segment called ‘Taking a Punt‘ for the local Ballarat Courier newspaper on feature race days, with all profits from his tips going to a designated charity.

After his outstanding tipping effort on New Year’s Day at Burrumbeet, we have decided to up the ante this time around and have given Tim a 4-week tipping challenge that will take place over the next four feature race days in Melbourne,

Horseracingshares.com.au is giving Tim a total of $1,000 to bet with on Black Caviar Lightning day, Blue Diamond Stakes day, Australian Guineas day & Australian Cup day, with all returns to be donated to Riding for the Disabled Association of Victoria (RDAV).

Tim’s 4-week RDA Challenge

There’s absolutely no pressure on Tim, but this is his challenge, now he has chosen to accept it.

Over the next four Saturday feature races days, we will give Tim $250 to punt with on each day, divided into three bet types, one Win bet, one Each-Way bet, and one Exotic bet.

For those Twitter enthusiasts the hashtag for this challenge is: #RDAChallenge

Tim excited by the RDAChallenge

Once again, Tim will be ‘Taking A Punt’ for charity and is excited by the RDA challenge ahead.

“We had a great day on the punt on Burrumbeet Cup day, raising $850 for the National Jockeys Trust, so hopefully we can raise even more for Riding for the Disabled,” Tim said.

“The pressure is on, and I’ll be spending the next few days doing the form trying to find a winner or two.”

“It’s for a great cause and hopefully we can be as successful as New Year’s Day and raise as much money as possible over the four weeks..”

“I’m looking forward to the challenge once again.”

The Riding for the Disabled Association Australia (RDAA) is a voluntary, nonprofit organisation that does a fantastic job for those people in the community with disabilities, enabling them to enjoy safe, healthy, stimulating, therapeutic, horse-related activities in Australia.

We wish Tim the best of luck in raising as much money as he can for such a worthy cause!
