tickets-play-money-thIf you’re looking to get involved in a value for money colt then consider this strapping Tickets x Play Money yearling with Australian Thoroughbred Bloodstock to be trained by the state’s leading trainer Darren Weir.

This colt is by Tickets, a son of the champion stallion Redoute’s Choice, out of Play Money (Red Ransom), a dam of three foals to race with two being winners in Australia, Set Me Straight and Reckless Money.

Set Me Straight (out of Play Money) was the first horse we got involved in with ATB and he looked set for a promising career following 4 wins and 4 second placings from just ten starts.

Tragically, Set Me Straight was put down after sustaining a shattering leg injury following his 11th race start at Moonee Valley.

Sire TICKETS, was a brilliant two-year-old, winning the Group 2 Pago Pago Stakes & listed Canonbury Stakes, and he was runner-up in the Group 1 AJC Sires Produce Stakes & Group 1 AJC Champagne Stakes.

His first crop yearlings are in great demand and he’s the only son of Redoute’s Choice at stud to have won from 1100m to 1500m at Stakes level.

From one of Australia’s greatest producing families – Dam is the ‘Blue Hen’ mare STAGING.

Dam PLAY MONEY, is by Red Ransom, and her great grand dam is multiple Black type winner Party (by Lunchtime), meaning this colt has some very blue blood running through his veins.

Party has produced ten foals to race, with nine of them being winners, including the likes of Masked Party, Festal and La Bamba.

After his first look at the colt trainer Darren Weir said:

“This colt has three-year-old written all over him.”

“He has a long rein, a scopey body and he’ll take a little time to grow into himself.”

“These types of horses may have a run as a later two-year-old, but we’ll be more focused on his three-year-old career and he looks like a staying type of colt.”

“He’s a lovely loose going horse with a nice long rein which a stayer needs and he stands over a nice bit of ground.”

This colt has been broken in and enjoyed the early stages of his education at the Matthew Williams Racing complex at Warrnambool in Western Victoria.

Australian Thoroughbred Bloodstock’s Darren Dance had this to say.

“This colt’s been broken in and he broke in very well and has a great temperament.”

“We sent him down to Warrnambool for 2 weeks to do some pretraining with him just so he could go to the track each day and work with 3 or 4 other horses.”

“Nothing really worried him and he’s done everything we asked him to do.”

“He was a pleasure to have in the stables ad he just went around like he had done it all before.”

“He’s back at Manningtree Park now where he’ll have an 8 week spell to grow and mature and thicken up.”

“Lovely horse, good walker, good head, and really athletic.”

“Out of all the foals that Play Money has had, I’d say that this is the best, and that includes Set Me Straight, who won a few races but unfortunately died.”

“We thought Set Me Straight was going to be a group horse, and I think this horse is going to be a better type.

“He looks like being a three-year-old middle-distance horse and I could not be happier with his progress to date.”
