First to go around was Refill, who resumed with a very good 2nd place finish 1100m on September 18th 2013 at Bendigo. He played up in the gates and had to be vetted prior to running, but finished the race off nicely to suggest a good campaign ahead for the son of Reset.
Two days later Chloe Anna and Evens went around at Ararat for Darren Weir.
Chloe Anna was making her debut and was caught wide all the way after playing up at the barrier prior to jumping. She finished 9th and best to forget she went around.
Evens was having her first start in over 4 weeks and ran a very nice 2nd over 1300m behind a smart type in Esprit Rossa. The winner was the better horse on the day and Evens is on track for a good preparation.
On September 22nd Glockenspiel and General Amour raced at Swan Hill for Darren Weir.
Glockenspiel finished 3rd over 975m and was disappointing on the day after being slow out. The Snitzel colt pulled on the fence behind the leader and resented being pocketed in on the rails. He will be better over more ground on a bigger track.
General Amour finished last today in a another disappointing performance on the day for ATB. He got out well from the barriers but was hunted from the wide gate and never really go on the track. The General Nediym galloper also copped a couple of severe checks and probably best to forget he went around.
The final two ATB runners for the week were Magnus Belle and Edge Of Storm on September 24th at Donald, again for trainer Darren Weir.
Magnus Belle raced in the box seat behind the leaders and was given every chance over 1000 metres. She appears to race best on synthetic surfaces and is likely to head to Darwin now to continue her career.
Final runner of the week for ATB was promising staying type Edge Of Storm who was most impressive in his first start over 2000 metres. Considering he didn’t have much luck during the race, it was a pleasing performance, finishing 3rd, beaten less than a length.
