ATB Review Sep 11th 2013

stylish-lilyThree runners for Australian Thoroughbred Bloodstock this week, highlighted by the classy win of promising mare Stylish Lily.

ATB has a pretty smart galloper on their hands with impressive Choisir 4yo Stylish Lily, who scored a strong win on September 8th at Warracknabeal.

Stylish Lily is in the hands of Darren Weir at Ballarat and was having just her second career outing when a 0.4L winner of the Winmpak Maiden Plate (1000m) with Dean Yendall aboard.

After taking a while to get to the races due to a number of problems, Stylish Lily is now repaying the faith of her owners and showing plenty of promise on the race track.

On September 9th ATB had Tonza Rossa head to Warrnambool  for trainer Matthew Williams to tackle the WRC Membership Maiden Plate (1200m) where she finished 6th beaten 3.1 lengths.

After jumping well, the daughter of Testa Rossa was left alone in front without cover and resented it, fighting her jockey Dean Yendall for the first 600m and failing to settle.

This left her vulnerable at race end as she was unable to switch off during the run.

The lightly raced filly is likely to come back in distance for her next outing and hopefully can get some cover to allow her to settle better in future.

The Darren Weir trained Magnus Belle ran 3rd in the Newcombe Sand & Soil Supplies 0-64 Handicap (1000m) for ATB on September 6th when ridden by Craig Newitt.

She was well beaten on the day and was never going to beat the winner, who is placed at stakes level, but after being run off her legs early, she put in another honest effort.

They ran 33.6 sec for the last 600m and she made ground and Craig thought there was a race for her shortly.

The classy Platelet returns to the race track on Saturday 14th September 2013 for ATB to contest the Group 2 McEwen Stakes at Moonee Valley.

Platelet’s spring goal is the Group 1 Patinack Farm Classic at Flemington in November.
