25 nominations for 2015 Burrumbeet Cup on New Year’s Day
The Burrumbeet Park & Windermere Racing Club has received a total of 162 nominations (including emergencies) for the Burrumbeet Cup meeting on New Year’s Day.
The feature race of the day, the 2015 Petrogas Regional Burrumbeet Cup (1800m), has attracted 25 entries, and the club is hopeful that a full field of ten will face the starter on Thursday.
Heading the Burrumbeet Cup entries are Spanish Vixen, a last start Moonee Valley winner from the Paul Jones yard in Stawell, and the locally trained Mortlake & Dunkeld Cup winner Pennon, from the Andrew Payne stable in Ballarat.

Leading trainer Darren Weir has saddled up three of the past ten Burrumbeet Cup winners in Heisman (2014), and Surfin Pete (2005 & 2006), but will be unable to defend his reigning Burrumbeet Cup crown, as he does not have a horse entered for Thursday’s feature race.
Harry Coffee guided Heisman to a stunning victory in the most recent Burrumbeet Cup in January this year, defeating 2012 winner Tube (2nd) and Quick Shakes (3rd).
Acceptances for the 2015 Petrogas Regional Burrumbeet Cup meeting will be released tomorrow, Tuesday 30th December 2014 at around 10:15am, and fields will be available shortly after.
